Gran Turismo 4 (PS2) Gran Turismo 4 has been restructured from the bottom up. To start, the track modeling and car reaction to each surface has been changed to add more detail and game play. The physics has become more advanced, making users to understand the concept of weight transfer, braking, accelerating, and cornering. Driving into a corner too hard will cause you to spin out making it much harder to recover, more difficult than previous Gran Turismo titles. If the brakes get locked up, there is no way you are going to be able to save the vehicle from uncontrollable slides, especially on snow or slippery surfaces. This just means that Gran Turismo is proving its power as a big time racing simulator. The focus now for GT 4 is to make the action more realistic and the game much harder. Since the previous games were usually easier, it’s a new feel to the GT series to actually have a challenge. The awesome horsepower of a Dodge Viper going through the streets of Honk Kong, just mere centimeters off the ground is unchallenged. The feeling of being at the edge of control has never been shown as great and detailed as in this game. The graphics are just gorgeous. GT 4 will hook casual gamers long after they have given up on previous games. This edition of GT sets a new precedence for racing games on the PS2. The visuals are simply amazing, fluid, and even supports high definition T.V. Still, the best part of the game is the cars. There are over 650 of them in this game, all looking fabulous. The cars are modeled to perfection, a model that has always outweighed the superior graphics of racing titles on the XBOX and Gamecube. The developer’s time and efforts have been poured into the love and admiration of the vehicles. That appreciation and respect is even shown in the sound department. The quantity of research and development spent on recording different racing simulations and sounds are clearly evident. Even though this GT 4 game would benefit from an online mode, it still deserves praise. This game allows you to get the best, most realistic simulator ever released on the PS2 with over 650 real vehicles. There are 35 different tracks to run and large amount of races and challenged to participate in. Gran Tursimo 4 runs over fellow competitors and is the new precedence for what new driving games will be based on. |
